Every third Sunday in July Venice celebrates the Festa del Redentore (Feast of the Redeemer), in commemoration of the end of the plague that struck the city between 1575-1577.
It is one of the most popular traditional events, and Venetian people are used to dine and celebrate together on Saturday (this year July 20th), while waiting for the fireworks show in St. Mark's Basin that starts at 11:30 pm. An extraordinary show that usually lasts about half an hour.
The lucky ones admire it from the water: the basin fills from early afternoon with boats; while the others gather on the terraces of the palaces, “altana” (typical Venetian wooden rooftop terrace) or on the banks where long and lively tables are set up.
To experience this authentic evening, we propose that you dine at our La Caravella Restaurant, in order to have access to the exclusive terrace of the Hotel Saturnia & International, to admire the Redentore fireworks over the Venetian rooftops, while sipping a drink.
The Redentore dinner at La Caravella
For the Redentore Dinner we propose two shifts: the first at 7 pm and the second at 9:15 pm. You will be able to choose your favorite dishes from the “a la carte” menu.
You will then have the chance to admire the highest fireworks from the panoramic terrace of the Hotel Saturnia & International*.
Redentore on the Terrace
Only those who dine at La Caravella Restaurant (with a minimum charge of €80) will then have access to the panoramic terrace of Hotel Saturnia & International*, starting at 10:30 p.m., for an additional charge of €45 per person.
Included in the fee are two drinks prepared by our bar Il Caravellino and a delicious slice of watermelon, as per tradition.
*In case of bad weather, after-dinner drinks will be served in the hotel's noble floor lounge.
Reservations and credit card information are required for Redentore dinner and terrace.
