Le Ragose in Valpolicella hills

Le Ragose Wine estate - Verona hills

Just to the north of Verona, on the Arbizzano hill, in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico zone, lies the 60 acre estate of Le Ragose.
The terrain is limestone and red clay and is extremely steep.
The vineyards are advantageously located with full southwestern exposure and a  special microclimate provides dry autumn and winter months necessary for the making of “passito grapes” for Amarone.
The estate was founded in 1969 by Marta and Arnaldo Galli, enologist and former manager in other big local cellars. Today, the sons Paolo (trade and administration) and Marco (technical range) guide the estate.
Le Ragose produces 150.000 bottles: 50.000 to 70.000 of Amarone, 50.000 of Ripasso Valpolicella, 10.000 of Cabernet Sauvignon, 15.000 of Valpolicella Classico and small quantities of other special wines.
Harvesting and selection of the grapes are made by hand.
The farm’s philosophy is the production of traditional classical products.
