50th Anniversary of La Caravella

La Caravella celebrates its 50th anniversary

Dear Guest,
after the first important centennial of the Hotel Saturnia & International celebrated in 2008, another remarkable anniversary recurs this year  with the 50th birthday of our restaurant La Caravella.


In 1963, the famous Ciro’s Bar, which was frequented also by Simone de Beauvoir and Jean Paul Sartre, as the heart of the cultural life in Venice, handed over to La Caravella.  Starting from that year our distinctive restaurant, also renowned because of its prestigious list of wines, at present with more than 200 labels, became one of the most important reference point of the Venetian oeno-gastronomic panorama, prizewinning a Michelin star for 25 years from 1970 to 1995.


Restaurant La Caravella is the realization of  Renzo’s dream (father and grand-father of the present owners)
and it is born owing to  his curiosity, his far-seeing mind, his passion for the hospitality and for the high-quality cuisine. He travelled a lot with his family and from every travel he came back with a new recipe, to taste more and more times, before adding it to the menu exactly as it had to be.


Our tasting menu, created by our Chef Silvano Urban for this special event, foresees four dishes, which have marked the history of Restaurant in Venice: lobster cream, its caramel, sea asparagus and crunchy bacon – warm whole meal spaghetti classical Venetian, with leek cream sauce and fried bread – John Dory au gratin with herbs, shrimps pesto and pearls of vegetables – Zabajone “ La Caravella “, at the price of 68,00 euros per person drinks excluded.


The anniversary King course consists in 10 different kinds of  fish of our lagoon, according to the market availability and their best combination: there will be a menu for Spring and Summer and another one for Autumn and Winter, at the price of 48,00 euros per person drinks excluded.


The tasting menu and the anniversary king course will be available till the end of May 2014 and during your next stay you could also have the chance to taste our Chef’s proposals. An interesting enogastronomic opportunity to take advantage……..don’t miss it!
