According to tradition, on the third Sunday of July in Venice, the Feast of the Redeemer is celebrated in commemoration of the end of the plague that affected the city between 1575-1577.
Venice's most atmospheric celebration takes place on the preceding Saturday night (so this year Saturday, July 15), usually starting at 11:30 p.m., when an extraordinary fireworks show can be seen in St. Mark's Basin. Venetians, before the show, are used to dine and celebrate together by boat, on the terraces and altanas of the buildings or on the shores where long and lively tables are set up since late afternoon. Instead, the basin fills with hundreds and hundreds of boats.
For an unforgettable evening, on Saturday, July 15, we propose that you dine at our La Caravella Restaurant, in order to have access to the exclusive terrace of the Hotel, to admire the Redentore fireworks over the Venetian rooftops.
THE FEAST OF THE REDEEMER 2023 AT LA CARAVELLA
For the Feast of the Redeemer 2023 we propose two shifts: the first at 7 pm to then enjoy the magic of the evening wandering around the city and the second at 9.15 pm for those who instead finished dinner want to head directly to St. Mark's Square to admire the fireworks display, or contemplate the highest fireworks from the panoramic terrace of the Hotel Saturnia & International*.
REDENTORE 2023 ON THE TERRACE
Those who dine at La Caravella Restaurant (with a minimum charge of €70) have the opportunity to access the terrace of the Hotel Saturnia & International*, starting at 10:30 p.m., for an additional charge of €45 per person. The fee includes two drinks prepared by our bar Il Caravellino and a tasty slice of watermelon, as per ancient tradition.
*In case of bad weather, after-dinner drinks will be served in the lounge on the fist floor of the hotel.
